Story:

"My story is my glory" Crystal Goodman

I grew up in the foster care system and was adopted by a woman named Ora Lee Goodman. Ora was a pastor for 40 years serving the underrepresented marginalized community in Minneapolis, MN. Because of the great example she set for me in my life, I want to be that for the students impacted by my program.

I graduated from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. While pursuing my degree I was a member Black Student Association (BSA) volunteering for Liberty Middle School for 4 years. I graduated again in the summer of 2024 with a Master’s degree in Public Policy. Ora Lee’s Heart INC was established in 2023 in dedication to my amazing adopted mother. I desired to continue my work at the middle schools and high schools after graduating from NDSU. Ora Lee’s Heart, INC (OLH) is a 501(c)(3) organization located in the Fargo area. The mission of OLH is to empower children to succeed by providing tutoring and mentoring to marginalized students.

Faith Scheuer

Secretary

Hometown: Bismarck, ND

School: MPP and attending UND School of Law starting August 2024 (class of 2027)

Capstone: worked with the Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiners to help establish a way to expand their services to aid domestic violence survivors

My goal is to work with the state in a legal capacity either on the Legislative Council or somewhere else in the Attorney General's office. However, I would also like look into what lawyers can do for nonprofits.

I think good education is the cornerstone of a moral, healthy society, and when we help motivate our younger generations to ask questions and investigate our world, we are preparing them to improve themselves and their communities. However, we cannot forget to support them throughout this journey.
